Babies Have Needs

There is a new baby in the family. Number One Son and his wife have been married 10 years and finally welcomed a baby boy to their family this week.

He is a tiny thing, only 5 lbs. 12 oz., but strong and healthy and perfect.

And, he needs a quilt.

Of course.

I knew what I was making but waited to make it until the baby was actually here. I am funny that way. So, the top is done and we are moving forward with quilting plans.

ps–The pattern is Carpenter’s Star, a traditional block, but it is sized specifically for baby and a tutorial is coming soon. Cut scraps or have a charm pack at the ready!

  1. What a wonderful boy quilt. Tell your friend I had a 5# 11oz. baby boy almost 21 years ago and enjoy him being a baby–the time flies so quickly. Mine is 6′ 2″ and will be in his 3rd year of college on a full tuition scholarship this fall. Even though they can start small, they can be big and wonderful as they grow. Thank you for your blog. I enjoy it very much. Vicky

  2. It is a wonderful quilt! Congratulations on your new little grandson! Much love to you and your family!

  3. Love it and will be anxiously waiting for the tutorial. Welcome to the new grandson, they are such a joy. Enjoy him while you can, they grow up way to fast and then it is “grandma who”?

  4. So beautiful! Congratulations to the baby for coming and being so perfect, the parents for providing the love and care he needs, and the grandparents and aunts and uncles for providing babysitting and love … and a quilt!

  5. I love it and will need 2 baby quilts in February if all goes well with my granddaughter so I am anxiously awaiting the tutorial also… (What is husband trying to tell us up there???)

Thanks for taking the time to comment. It is nice to hear from you.
