Sew Sweet Simplicity Final Blocks

It is hard to believe we are already at the final blocks of the Sew Sweet Simplicity Block of the Month.

I built two copies each of all six blocks.

Here is block 4 and bonus block 2.

And here are all twelve together.

Next comes a setting plan and final assembly of the top.  It is so exciting!  How is yours coming along?  I look forward to seeing all of them.

In the meantime, you can leave a comment here and at the other participating blogs for a chance to win more great prizes.  Jacquelynne is so generous with giveaways.

Because of the Seventeen Quilts, I only have block 3 ready to show today.  Yes, you want to make this block!  It has almost a Crown of Thorns look to it that I really like.

Hopefully, I will have the bonus blocks finished and ready to share within the week.

Sew Sweet Simplicity: Block Two

***Comments now closed.  A winner has been selected***

Wow!  A month has flown by.  Most of my sewing time has been invested in the memory quilt project, but it was easy to set aside a little time for Sew Sweet Simplicty:  Block 2.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And here they are–two of them.

I plan to make two each of the six blocks Jacquelynne designed and set them in a design of my choosing (still to be finalized).

If you haven’t signed up already, you still can.  Just stop by the Art of Home and let her know you want to be part of the fun.

In the meantime, you can leave a comment here to be in the drawing for another great GIVEAWAY.  Jacquelynne is offering copies of several of her patterns.  Yay, us!

The giveaway will run through December 1.

That’s about it for now.  I am off to do some more sewing.

It Has A Name: Window Box

Thank you so much to all who submitted name ideas for my most recent creation.  More than 60 suggestions were shared, and I definitely know where to turn  for inspiration any time I need it.  Thank you all!

Husband got the final word on the subject.  I showed him the list and the quilt and asked, “What do you like?”  He selected….

WINDOW BOX

I love it!  It really fits the quilt.  A special thank you to Denise and Maxine and  for making the suggestion.  While I didn’t say I would do this originally, I am sending a little thank you gift along.  It is the least I can do.

I am working on a tutorial now and should have it ready by the end of the week.  Thanks to you all again!

Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM Preview

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***

WINNER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED

SEE YOU BACK HERE NEXT WEEK WITH THE BLOCKS!

Just to get you really fired up, Jacquelynne is sponsoring a Blog Hop showcasing the many variations being created based on her Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM pattern.  Yes, I am one of those lucky people.  Yay me!

SewSweetSimplicityBOM

While I loved the pattern, the color scheme didn’t meet my needs right at the moment.  What do you think of these colors instead?  I pulled all sorts of dark blue, green, brown and gold fabrics to make a scrappy, masculine quilt.  The background is a creamy off-white.  I am so excited to see the blocks come together.

You can join us.  Just visit the Art of Home to sign up. The first block pattern will be released October 27–you have time.  Just sign up and decide:  Do you want to make 4 blocks or 6?  Or, like me, make a couple of each and create a larger quilt?  (We’ll see how that turns out as we go along.)  And, there are more fun decisions to make:  Do you prefer straight piecing?  Applique?  Embroidery?  Yes, there is a variation just for you.

And giveaways, too.  Books, fabric, thread–who doesn’t need more of those?! In fact, let’s have a giveaway RIGHT NOW.  Jacquelynne is sponsoring a giveaway of her patterns–which are wonderful.  Leave a comment to get your name in the hat for a Digital Pattern Bundle worth $40.   I’ll draw the winner Monday, October 20, only a week before this great sew along gets started.

Stop by regularly to see the blog hops scheduled throughout the project to keep you inspired.  Everyone is doing something different and interesting.

Great project.  Fun times.   Plenty to see and do.  Sounds SWEET to me!

Pin Surprise (And A Giveaway)

***WINNER CHOSEN, THANK YOU FOR READING WEDDING DRESS BLUE***

The Lace Dress (see previous posts) was a surprise in many ways, but maybe the biggest surprise was the extremely positive reaction to the pin accessorizing the outfit.

The pin was so much fun to make that I got motivated and made a few more.  Four, to be precise.  Three are destined as Christmas presents as part of my Christmas Through The Year effort.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And the fourth one?  Well, so many of you have been so kind and supportive through the whole process, that I thought I would give it away to one of my wonderful readers.  You may even choose your pin.  Here are pictures of each of them.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Just leave a comment saying which pin you would prefer.  I would love it if you were a follower.  After all, who can resist all the fun and excitement here at Wedding Dress Blue. 🙂  But, either way, let me know which  pin you would like and I will draw a winner this Saturday, February 23.  The winner will be notified and the results posted here Monday, February 25.

Thanks again for all your support.  Blogging is a pleasure with readers like you.

Giftie Gratitude Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Susan, who won the Giftie Gratitude Giveaway.

She said:

I’m not surprised at the number of your followers – you have a GREAT blog! Baby washcloths, I think. There’s always a baby being born in our ward – two right this moment are due any day!

A set of baby washcloths will be in the mail to her right away.

Thanks to you all for entering.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving (if you are in the States) or just a great weekend anyway.  We went to my parents’ house.  My brother and his family and a uncle and aunt and some cousins and miscellaneous friends were there…good time had by all.

With some time to think along the way, I got a few fun ideas for new patterns I am eager to try out and share (at least if they work).  🙂 Hopefully there will be some sewing time soon to find out.
